“Para todo mal Mezcal… ¡¡Y para todo bien también!!”
A popular Mexican saying that translates to “When everything goes wrong, Mezcal! When everything goes well, Mezcal!”
Legend has it that the creation of mezcal came from lightning striking an agave plant, which created the first tatema (slow-cooking process). This is why Mezcal is considered a gift from heaven.
In Mexican culture, the shaman is considered the privileged intermediary between the gods and humans, with the power to cure illnesses through his spiritual powers, as well as through medicinal herbs and plants.
According to ancient Mesoamerican cults, the shaman, the only one authorized to communicate with the gods, used Mezcal during religious ceremonies to communicate with the spirits.
